Account Information Email address, username, and password (via authentication provider) for account creation and login

Profile Information Profile photo and display name to identify you to other users

Challenge Data Challenge names, rules, and settings you create or participate in

Daily Logs Your daily progress entries, completion status, and optional notes

Photos Images you upload as proof of rule completion

Punishment Data Violation records, payment information (Venmo handles), and settlement proofs

Social Connections Your friend list and social interactions (reactions, nudges)

Information Collected Automatically

Device Information Device type, operating system, and app version for compatibility and troubleshooting

Push Notification Token Unique identifier to send you notifications

Timezone Your local timezone for accurate deadline calculations and reminders

Usage Data How you interact with the app (if data collection is enabled) to improve our service

Log Data Error logs and crash reports to identify and fix issues

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information for the following purposes:

To provide and operate the Nudge app and its features
To create and manage your account
To enable challenge creation, participation, and progress tracking
To send notifications (reminders, nudges, violation alerts, etc.)
To facilitate social features (reactions, friend connections)
To display your activity to challenge participants as part of the accountability system
To calculate streaks, statistics, and challenge progress
To improve and optimize the app (if analytics are enabled)

3. How We Share Your Information

We share your information in limited circumstances:

With Other Users

Challenge participants can see your username, avatar, daily logs, rule completions, violations, and streak information as part of the core accountability functionality. You can limit visibility through privacy settings.

With Service Providers

We use trusted third-party services to operate our app:

Clerk - Authentication and account management
Cloudflare - Data storage, image hosting, and API services
Expo - Push notification delivery

These providers only access data necessary to perform their services and are bound by confidentiality obligations.

For Legal Reasons

We may disclose information if required by law, legal process, or government request, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Nudge, our users, or others.

Access your device's photos, contacts, or files beyond what you explicitly share

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely using industry-standard practices:

Data is encrypted in transit using TLS/SSL
Data is stored on secure cloud infrastructure (Cloudflare)
Access to user data is restricted to authorized personnel only
Authentication is handled by Clerk with support for secure methods (Apple Sign-In, Google Sign-In)
Photos are stored in secure cloud storage with access controls

While we implement strong security measures, no system is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.

5. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services:

Account data is retained until you delete your account
Challenge and log data is retained for the duration of your participation and as historical records
Deleted accounts and associated data are permanently removed within 30 days
Some anonymized data may be retained for analytics purposes if you had data collection enabled

6. Your Privacy Rights

You have control over your personal information:

        Access & Control
        View your data: Access your profile, logs, and challenge history in the app
Update your data: Edit your profile, username, and avatar at any time
Delete your data: Delete your account in Settings → Security → Delete Account
Export your data: Contact us to request a copy of your data

        Public Profile: Control whether others can find and view your profile
Show Activity: Control whether your streak and log history are visible
Data Collection: Opt out of anonymous usage analytics
Notifications: Customize which notifications you receive

      

If you are a resident of California, the European Union, or other jurisdictions with privacy laws, you may have additional rights including the right to access, correct, delete, or port your data. Contact us to exercise these rights.

7. Children's Privacy

Nudge is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately and we will delete such information.

8. Third-Party Links and Services

Our app may contain links to third-party services (such as Venmo for payments). These services have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their practices. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before using them.

9. International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own. These countries may have different data protection laws. By using Nudge, you consent to the transfer of your information to the United States and other countries where our service providers operate.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting the new policy in the app and updating the "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
